JETRO (: Japan External Trade Organization), METI (: Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry) and Japan Business Federation held an online session to commemorate the establishment of “J-Bridge” in Europe. “J-Bridge” is an online platform for business, which supports to promote encounter and then cooperation between Japanese enterprises and those in the other countries, operated by JETRO.
In this event, some European enterprises which already have market share all over the world in the field of offshore wind power generator, and some Japanese enterprises which would like to participate in this business field made presentations and discussion. This session eventually was helpful for the enterprises which have interests for this field

“Carbon Neutral and Offshore Wind Power Generation Session
(to commemorate the establishment of “J-Bridge” in Europe)”
was held on 17th May, 2021.
On February 18, 2021, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) inaugurated a business platform called “Japan Innovation Bridge (commonly called “J-Bridge”) under the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), aiming to support Japanese companies in collaborating and advancing M&A with overseas companies based mainly in Asia, including startups, through open innovation, and METI will start acceptance of applications for member registration. Moreover, a launching event of the platform will be held on February 24, 2021, commemorating the launching of the platform.
Although in Japan there are no companies which can fabricate large scale wind turbine by themselves at the point of early 2021, the Japanese government would like to install a large number of offshore wind turbines (see the previous article: News Article on 15th Dec. 2020 Government targeted on the achievement of the installation of 30~45GW offshore wind power in Japan by 2040).
Because of this background, the Japanese government utilized J-Bridge in cooperation with JETRO to make a platform which supports to promote encounter and then cooperation between Japanese enterprises and those in the other countries, in the field of wind power generator.
This event was strongly promoted by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, and moreover, the chief director of JETRO and vice president of Japan Business Federation. They all made speech on this online session.

At the last part of this online session, web link information of J-Bridge platform to proceed matching with the other companies was shown to the participants. Using the site indicated by this web link, it is expected that a lot of companies would have started business negotiation. It is glad if the supply chain for building wind turbines is developed in Japan through the negotiation.
